hellohello.
the other day i had tuition on the day before chem paper 2.
as you know there's a new component in the paper,
its call PLANNING, which means students are required to plan an experiment,
do some calculation and answer some lab based qns.
it's a bit like SPA skill A B and D combined together.
IT'S VERY LAME IN MY OPINION.
because i haven't been through it,
it's very difficult for me to teach
and the scope is really broad...
any experiment can come out and
as a chemistry undergrad, there are some things
which you don't really need to make sense out of it,
seriously. at jc level, its even harder to understand, am i right?
xiaohui have a bad learning attitude,
i believe you dont need to know everything to get an A.
but as a tuition teacher i cannot say that right...
i need to be encouraging and teach the right thing.
i think my student is doing fine already...
but she started sobbing as she was flipping her notes.
i got a shock.
why she cry???
she told me she cannot finish studying...
i suck at consoling people.
so i told her dont worry,
you dont need to know everything
just consolidate what you know
and dont worry about what you dont know...
by the way she was really vexed over KINETICS
which i highly doubt it will come out
and its really tough to plan an experiment...
so i told her that.
if its organic or thermodyn i might react differently lah...
its my first time facing such a situation.
a bad bad experience.
at least she cried in front of me...
its good she vent out her frustration
before she continue with her revision.
i'm meeting her this weekend,
hope she will be fine then (:
as a tutor i feel really bad about a student crying in front of me.
it's like i haven't been doing a good job.
she didn't trust me enough.
i didn't give her enough confidence.
it's just bad. but it's okay, i think she will do alright eventually
and i hope she won't get too affected by chemistry.
life goes on with or without chemistry.

after i started giving tuition,
i will thank my tutor for teaching me via an email one leh.
i think it's really very important to make your tutor feel appreciated.
HAHA!!! a simple thank you is good enough.
if only all my tutees do that. haha!!!
